Your iPhone can unlock the hotel rooms using NFC

| By Shandilya

Just before the WWDC slated for June 4th, Apple is planning to reveal its new iOS 12 for the iPhones’ line-up. No one still does not know the feature that is expected to be revealed at the event, the company had done a great job keeping it discreet.

A report suggests Apple might finally be lifting off its limitations on the NFC chips in their iPhones. This means developers can now access the NFC chip functionality and can embed features like card transactions at public transportations, hotel door key and home security lock unlocking etc.

Previously, Apple had stuck its NFC chip in the iPhones for its payment gateway of Apple Pay only, which practically diminished the purpose of near field connection for being restricted to only one service. According to GSMArena, Apple had initially made its step towards allowing third-party apps to access its NFC chip by which also introduces CoreNFC framework with its new iOS 11. But, this access still was very limited, which meant that the apps didn’t have write access and the API hadn’t allowed the applications to use the NFC chip unless they were in the background.

Furthermore, the report also states that the company is already developing a system in collaboration with an innovative company Cubic, which eventually allows users to open their hotel rooms, automated homes, and can be used in daily commutes like a transit card as well.
