The latest generation of smartphones is progressively seen as standalone computers rather than as phones, because of their powerful internal computing capability, large memories, big screens, and the OS that encourage application development.

Every smartphone maker is getting better in the industry by launching phones with new design and innovations. These smartphones are changing over time as well. Processing capabilities increase, screens get larger, memory capacities grow, all of which boosts the draw on the battery. One of the areas for innovation in current smartphone technology is charging. We’ve seen the quick charging solutions, which reduced the time needed to charge mobile batteries in several smartphones from brands like OnePlus, Vivo and OPPO. Now, the Chinese smartphone giant Xiaomi set to launch 100W Super Charge Turbo Technology that can fully charge in just 17 minutes.

General Manager of Xiaomi’s new sub-brand Redmi Mr. Lu Weibing, shared a video on his Weibo account, demonstrating the capabilities of Xiaomi’s latest innovation in the mobile charging. As you can see in the video above, the smartphone with a 4,000 mAh battery and the Super Charge Turbo technology competing against an Oppo device with a 3,700 mAh battery and the Oppo’s own SuperVOOC technology.

Xiaomi’s 100W Super Charge Turbo, a fast charging technology charged a 4,000 mAh battery from 0% to 100% in just 17 minutes, whereas the Oppo phone managed to reach only 65% of a relatively smaller battery. However, Oppo’s 50W SuperVOOC technology is also impressive as you practically charged half of the device battery capacity within 15 minutes. But, the video shows how the Xiaomi’s new 100W Super Charge Turbo technology twice faster than the OPPO’s SuperVOOC technology.

For now, there is no information on when the new technology could show up in the company’s commercial products. The reports suggest that the Xiaomi might make some announcement about it today.
