Xiaomi is looking to launch a new smartphone that will feature a Samsung’s 64-megapixel camera sensor. This year, we have seen several flagships and even mid-range phones with 48MP camera. Now, its time for the 64MP camera phones. With this phone, Xiaomi is set to break the 48-megapixel camera on the phone record previously set by several smartphone brands.

To recall, last month South Korean brand Samsung introduced its 64-megapixel camera sensor, and it is expected to hit the market in the second half of 2019.

A popular tipster Ice Universe revealed on Weibo that Samsung will carry out the international premiere of the 64-megapixel camera sensor through a mysterious Galaxy A series phone and an upcoming Redmi handset will be coming with the same camera sensor in China.

The new Samsung’s 64MP camera sensor will produce a 16-megapixel output in low-light conditions by merging four pixels into one using its Tetracell technology. Samsung’s 48-megapixel camera sensor does the same thing and delivers a 12-megapixel output. The camera sensor can also descramble its color filter to deliver full-size 64-megapixel shots.
