Just yesterday, MediaTek announced new Helio G90, G90T gaming chipsets. After the launch, TL Lee, General Manager, Wireless Communication, MediaTek said that Chinese smartphone brand will be the first brand to launch a handset in India with the new MediaTek Helio G90 chipset integrated.
If you remember, Xiaomi started their journey in India with the phones that are powered by MediaTek processor. But later, because of some patents issues between Sony and Xiaomi, the company opted for Qualcomm’s Snapdragon SoCs. Last year, the company had introduced Redmi 6-series smartphones in India that were fuelled by MediaTek processor after years of waiting.
However, Xiaomi hasn’t revealed anything about the company’s upcoming MediaTek Helio G90-powered handset. Sadly, there is no information regarding the launch date for Xiaomi’s Helio G90-powered phone.
The all-new MediaTek Helio G90 and Helio G90T have an octa-core CPU that comprises ARM Cortex-A76 and Cortex-A55 cores at a maximum clock speed of 2.05GHz. The SoCs also have Mali-G76 3EEMC4 GPU clocked at up to 800MHz. The key highlight of MediaTek Helio G90 series SoCs is the HyperEngine game technology which brings support for an array of functions that should improve the overall gameplay experience.
There is also LPDDR4x support and the ability to work with a full-HD+, 21:9 display. Moreover, both of these SoCs have LTE Cat-12 network support. There is also an Intelligent Dual Mic Wake-up feature that provides enhanced performance for voice assistants like Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.
To talk about the difference between these two new SoCs, the Helio G90T supports up to 90Hz displays, 10GB RAM, and 64-megapixel primary sensor on a quad-camera setup whereas the Helio G90 is designed to work with 60Hz displays and handle up to 8GB RAM as well as a 48-megapixel sensor on triple camera setup.
