Xiaomi will reportedly launch smartphone dubbed as Redmi K30 with the next-gen flagship SoC from MediaTek soon. As the name suggests, the handset will offer 5G connectivity for high-speed internet. While there is no word on the launch date yet, the Redmi K30 is the first officially confirmed phone to rock the MediaTek’s mobile platform that supports 5G. It is expected to launch in 2020. MediaTek already has a 5G chipset with 5G modem built-in and the smartphone brands will start using this chipset on their phones by the end of this quarter.
In the presentation, Weibing also revealed that the upcoming Redmi K30 will support dual 5G. It will offer both SA (Standalone mode) and NSA (non-standalone) networking. The NSA networking means it will rely on existing LTE infrastructure for tasks such as communication between servers and cell towers. It will not only allow for better connectivity, decrease costs of 5G deployment in new areas.
For now, the other specs of the phone are not known. According to ghe reports, the Redmi K30 will have a Samsung Galaxy S10+ like dual front selfie shooters. On the rear, there will be a triple or quad camera setup that will include a 64-megapixel primary sensor.
