Finally, Xiaomi unveiled its mid-range Mi A1 successor Mi A2 in India on their event held. The price of the device starts from Rs 16,999 which is little more than its predecessor, the Mi A1. The first sale of the Mi A2 is on August 15, while the pre-order begins tomorrow at 12 noon. The Mi A2 is leaked on Amazon before the launch but the leaked price is little more than the official price as the device was expected to be priced around Rs 17,499 according to the Amazon listing.
Mi A2 Specifications
The Mi A2 sports a 5.99-inch full-HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio and 2160 x 1080 pixel resolution. Mi A2 is company’s first phone in India to offer the Gorilla Glass 5 on top while device’s front panel features Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for top protection. The display of the Mi A2 is almost bezel-less and comes without a notch. The frame of the device is made of aluminum alloy and looks premium in hand.
As the Mi A1 and Mi A2 is the Google’s initiative, the phone is said to offer regular software updates for the next two years. While the Mi A2 runs a stock OS of Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. Moreover, Google and Xiaomi promised that the Mi A2 will be the fastest phone to get new Android P update by the end of this year.
Mi A2 has the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 SoC coupled with Adreno 512 GPU for graphics. Although, the phone has two variants one with 4 GB RAM plus 64 GB internal another one with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB internal, as for now only the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage version is on sale in India.
Coming to the camera of the Mi A2, the device has a 12MP Sony IMX486 with f/1.75 aperture and a 20MP Sony IMX376 secondary sensor with a f/1.75 aperture on the rear. The front camera is a 20MP one with LED flash. The device packs a 3,010mAh battery and the variant will support Qualcomm’s QuickCharge 4.0. Still, there is no fast-charger in the box. Interestingly, the new Mi A2 does not have a microSD slot and headphone jack.
The Xiaomi said that the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant will arrive later in the market.

Mi A2 will be open for pre-order from Amazon India and Xiaomi’s Mi.com from tomorrow, which is August 9. The official sale will take place on August 15 on both sites. Even though the sale on August 15th you need to pay the full amount while pre-ordering. For the potential buyers, Jio offering Rs 2200 cashback and up to 4.5 TB of extra data.
