Xiaomi has revealed its first smartphone created specifically for Android Go, Google’s stripped-down mobile OS. Android Go announced at Google I/O 2017 annual developer conference, which is made for entry-level Android smartphones with less than 1GB RAM and it uses less storage space, less memory.
According to the announcement, Redmi Go features a 5-inch HD display (1,280×720 pixels) with in-house Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC processor running under its hood. The Redmi Go runs on Go version of Android 8.1 Oreo. The smartphone features an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera. The Redmi Go is kept alive by a 3000mAh battery.
1.4 GHz Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC paired with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage and the device has the hybrid slot for the second SIM which means that users can either choose to add the second nano-SIM or a microSD card slot for expansion of storage.
Connectivity options on the Redmi Go include 4G VoLTE-enabled dual Nano-SIM slots, Bluetooth v4.1, FM radio, micro USB port, GPS, Wi-Fi, and 3.5mm headphone jack.
Android Go loaded with several Go-optimized applications, including scaled-down versions of the Google app, Assistant, YouTube, Gboard, Chrome, Maps, Files, Gmail and Google Play.
However, the company has not revealed the pricing details for the Philippines market. Moreover, the company is yet to reveal the launch details of the device in other markets.
