Indian smartphone market leader Xiaomi has cut its television prices by up to Rs. 2000 with the maximum cut in the entry-level models of large screen sizes, due to the depreciation of the Indian rupee. Recently, company slashed the price of some smartphone models.
The company said the price has fallen since the government decided to cut GST for TVs up to 32 inches from 28 percent to 18 percent.
According to this price cut, Xiaomi Mi LED Smart TV 4A 32-inch which used to cost Rs 13,999 earlier will now be available at Rs 12,499 with the price drop of Rs. 1,500, while a Mi LED TV 4C PRO 32-inch model has come down from Rs 15,999 to Rs 13,999 with the price cut of Rs. 2,000. The price of a Mi LED TV 4A PRO 49-inch model has also dropped to Rs. 30,999 with a price cut of Rs. 1,000.
A few months ago, IDC published a report on the India’s smart home market for Q2 2018. In the second quarter, the company tripled shipments, becoming the market leader in the Smart TV category. According to Xiaomi, they have sold 500,000 television since arriving in India.
