Xiaomi Black Shark 2 Passes through Geekbench, Reveals 12GB RAM and Other Specifications

Xiaomi’s sub-brand launched Black Shark gaming phone last year but fans outside China were disappointed since the phone wasn’t up for a global release. Now, it seems the company is already working on the successor of Black Shark, the Black Shark 2 as the device appeared on Geekbench.

A new device code-named “blackshark AAA” was caught sneaking through Geekbench’s benchmarking suite. Passing by the blackshark AAA demonstrate name, this should be a “Black Shark 2”. In a recent post on Weibo, the company had confirmed that its upcoming device will feature new liquid cooling technology dubbed Liquid Cool 3.0.

According to the Geekbench listing, the Black Shark 2 will include a Qualcomm’s t Snapdragon 855 7nm octa-core processor backed with massive 12GB of RAM. The base frequency detected by Geekbench is 1.78GHz. The system information is given points to the handset coming with latest Android 9 Pie. No other specifications have been mentioned. Hopefully, we’ll find out more soon.

According to the listing on Geekbench, the Black Shark 2 scored 11,413 points on multi-core while single-core tests resulted in 3516 points. The 3C certification of the upcoming Black Shark device has revealed that it will carry support for 27W fast charging.

Last month, in a Weibo post, Xiaomi product director Wang Teng Thomas had confirmed the presence of the Black Shark 2 and he described the upcoming Black Shark device as being “full of personality and very cool”. The smartphone’s name, however, has not been confirmed yet.

Xiaomi will be bringing the Black Shark Phone to the Indian market soon. Black Shark, is officially beginning operations in India. Last week, another Chinese smartphone brand Vivo unveiled iQOO gaming smartphone under its new sub-brand with Snapdragon 855 SoC, up to 12GB of RAM, a vapour cooling system and 4,000mAh battery that uses Vivo’s Super Flash Charge technology.
