Xiaomi is preparing to launch the Xiaomi 12 series smartphones in China. On December 28th, the Chinese brand will release the Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12X smartphones in the country. Every Xiaomi lineup usually includes a cheaper Lite version, and the Xiaomi 12 series will be no different. It has recently been reported by Xiaomiui, which stated that Xiaomi 12 series would also include Xiaomi 12 Lite and 12 Lite Zoom. These devices are expected to launch in March 2022.

Xiaomiui recently revealed that Xiaomi is developing handsets with the codenames Zijin and Taoyao. Taoyao could be the codename for the upcoming 12 Lite, while Zijin could refer to the alleged 12 Lite Zoom.

According to Xiaomiui, the Xiaomi 12 Lite, codenamed Taoyao, carries model numbers 2203129G (G represents Global variant) and 2203129I (I represents Indian variant). The Mi 12 Lite Zoom carries the model number 2203129BC and is exclusive to the Chinese market. We have already seen both of these handsets in the IMEI database. Furthermore, the report has uncovered key specifications for the upcoming Xiaomi 12 series handsets.

Xiaomi 12 Lite and Xiaomi 12 Lite Zoom Leaked Specifications

Both the Mi 12 Lite and Mi 12 Lite Zoom come with 6.55-inch FHD+ AMOLED displays with a 1080 × 2400 pixel resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. Xiaomi’s Mi 12 Lite devices may feature an in-display fingerprint scanner, as opposed to the side-mounted fingerprint sensor of its predecessors. If the claims by Xiaomiui are to be believed, the handsets will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G or the Snapdragon 780G mobile processors. The devices will ship with Android 12 based MIUI 13 out of the box.

Mi 12 Lite is rumored to offer a triple rear camera setup with a Samsung ISOCELL GW3 primary sensor. Additionally, the camera setup will be equipped with ultra-wide-angle and macro lenses. There are no details about the resolution and specs of the other two sensors yet. Xiaomiui also claims that the smartphones might feature a 3D edge design similar to that of the Xiaomi Civi.
