Most loved instant messaging app WhatsApp is working on another exciting feature that can enrich the user experience. Android version of the WhatsApp is going to get an iOS exclusive feature named Picture-In-Picture mode, a feature which was already enabled in the iOS version.

Firstly, reported by WABetaInfo, the WhatsApp messenger is now working to introduce the picture-in-picture mode for watching the video inside WhatsApp. The company is preparing to integrate a pop-up or floating window in which the video will start playing without hampering your chat experience.

Furthermore, as per the report this feature has been already included in the new update via Google Play Beta Program, which shows that the update consists of picture-in-picture mode support for Android. The PIP enabled WhatsApp version is said to be 2.18.234 available for download for the beta users.

Through this PIP mode in WhatsApp, now the Android users will be able to see a play icon for the video they have received through personal chats and group chats in picture-in-picture mode, while users will still be able to navigate in the chat. It could also be possible that the new feature might also work with YouTube and Instagram videos as well.

In contrast, WhatsApp already allows its users to watch YouTube videos within the app and the users don’t have to exit the app. The PIP mode is already available in the popular apps like Netflix, Google Maps, Telegram and Google Duo in Android Oreo version.

According to the WaBetaInfo report, the users will get a play symbol on the thumbnail preview when they receive any video in chat. Clicking on the play symbol will show videos in PiP mode allowing users to navigate in the chat. This is for both Instagram or YouTube videos. Nevertheless, it doesn’t work for videos posted on Instagram Stories.

WhatsApp PIP mode for Android device is expected to launch by the mid or end of this month officially for all users. Recently WhatsApp introduced Group calling feature to enhance the calling experience.
