There have been multiple instances when the upcoming Xiaomi Play has leaked. The device will be the latest offering from Xiaomi. An earlier leak covered storage and color options of the device. Now, a Chinese tipster got his hands on one unit and he has made a video demonstrating a hands-on experience with the phone. Another image that seems have to taken from a live unboxing video of the smartphone has also surfaced on Weibo.
The new Xiaomi Play will have a larger 5.84-inch display. The phone will also sport a waterdrop notch on the front. It is touted to come equipped with AI powered rear-mounted dual camera setup with a large pixel size of 1.2micron. A leaked images of the Xiaomi Play retail box shed more light of what the device might pack underneath its hood. But now the device is expected to be powered by the Helio P90 SoC.
The unboxing video of Xiaomi Play, which appeared on the Chinese microblogging site is here. The blurred videos show that Mi Play phone is thin, and the side bezels are not too thin. The leaked phone is in bright black color.
Mi Play Official images of the color variants Dream Blue and Gold Dawn were announced today by Xiaomi President Lin Bin. He also shared another image (below) on Weibo to confirm few the key specs of the upcoming smartphone.
Xiaomi’s president Lin Bin said that “Now the mobile phone is getting bigger and bigger, and one-handed operation is very inconvenient. Xiaomi Play uses a 5.84-inch drop screen, which is equivalent to a 5-inch screen mobile phone a few years ago. There is no pressure on one-handed operation, and the pockets will not be felt. 1080×2280 FHD+ resolution with PPI up to 432. Friends who like small mobile phones take a bubble.”
The Xiaomi is set to launch the Mi Play officially in China, tomorrow. The device is expected to arrive with a price tag of 1,699 Yuan (~$246). However, there is no confirmation on whether the pricing belongs to the 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage or 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage variants of the Mi Play.
