Top 6 Reasons Why Redmi Note 7 is Better than Samsung Galaxy M20

| By DWR Editor

Xiaomi has announced the Redmi Note 7, which is the successor to its popular Redmi Note 5. Highlighting changes in the Redmi Note 7 is the adoption of the dot-notched display and Snapdragon 660 processor. The smartphone has been launched at a competitive starting price of Rs 9,999.

If you’re looking for a smartphone with mid-level specifications, a decent camera, a standout design and are limited to a budget between Rs 10,000 and Rs 15,000, then choosing one from either Redmi Note 7 or the Samsung Galaxy M20 will be a good option. But what’s different? Here are 6 reasons why Redmi Note 7 is better than Samsung Galaxy M20.

Why Redmi Note 7 is Better than Samsung Galaxy M20

Design

Xiaomi completely changed in the way of design with the new Redmi Note 7. This is the first smartphone from Xiaomi to launch with the dot-notch display. However, the Samsung Galaxy M20 also comes with the Infinity-V display which looks similar to the Redmi Note 7. Redmi Note 7 has a comparatively more attractive and modern design compared to that of the Samsung Galaxy M20.

Performance

In terms of raw strength, it looks like Redmi Note 7 and the Samsung Galaxy M20 will be taking the cake here with their Snapdragon 660 and Exynos 7904 SoC respectively. While the Snapdragon 660, found only in few recently launched smartphones, the better GPU on the Snapdragon 660 gives it an edge in gaming and other intensive tasks.

Both the Snapdragon 660 and Exynos 7904 SoC chips in these devices perform really well with no lags in terms of day to day tasks. Both Snapdragon 660 and Exynos 7904 are top-tier mid-range processors offering standard performance.

All things considered, the Redmi Note 7 takes the performance crown.

Camera

Undoubtedly, Redmi Note 7 does indeed have a great camera which can take some excellent photos. Redmi Note 7 features a 12MP+2MP dual-camera setup at the rear and a 13MP selfie camera at the front. While the Samsung Galaxy M20 features a 13MP+5MP dual-camera on the rear and an 8MP selfie camera on the front.

Both the devices feature 1080p video recording, whereas in Redmi Note 7 the 1080p video recording is limited at 60fps, while in the Galaxy M20, the 1080p video recording limited at 30fps. The Galaxy M20 also misses out on EIS (electronic image stabilization) for video recording, which is present in the Redmi Note 7.

Battery and Charging

Samsung Galaxy M20 wins the battery side as it has a bigger capacity of 5000 mAh with 15W fast charging. However, if you consider the charging speed in both the devices, then the winner is the Redmi Note 7. The Redmi Note 7 comes with a 4,000mAh battery with 18W Quick Charge 4 support. Further, it has one of the most efficient chipsets out there: the octa-core Snapdragon 660.

Software

The Redmi Note 7 device runs on a customized MIUI 10, based on Android 9 Pie. The UI comes loaded with some interesting features such as three fingerprint slide screenshot, split-screen and full-screen gestures, and lot more.

Experience 9.5 runs on the Samsung Galaxy M20 which is essentially based on Android 8.1 Oreo. The UI comes loaded with some interesting features similar to the MIUI 10. However, Redmi Note 7’ MIUI 10 offers several customization options, themes and more

Price

At last, there is a price. Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 comes with a price tag of Rs.9,999 in India for 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. Whereas the Galaxy M20 with similar memory and storage configuration is priced at Rs. 10,990, which makes it Rs. 1,000 costlier than Note 7. I would personally pick Redmi Note 7 for its better hardware, decent cameras, well-balanced specs and for having the best price.
