Should you wait for OnePlus 6T or just go ahead with OnePlus 6?

| By Shandilya

There have been numerous gossips and leaks ever since first look of Oneplus 6. It began to appear today with hype and marketing  OnePlus’ first flagship of 2018 goes on sale for the Indian market. Over the years, there are many iterations in flagships of Oneplus with topping the specifications in each iteration and competing with major Android smartphone industry and providing with half of their price tag.

Every year, since the launch of the OnePlus 3, the Shenzhen-based company comes up with two flagships. The company is announcing another model of the same flagship with just a T suffix with minor improvements. The Oneplus 6 features everything that makes it future proof, including a notch design. However, is a six-month wait period for the OnePlus 6T justified? Or there’s no point suppressing your love for the OnePlus 6?

The OnePlus 6 will go on sale on May 21 for Amazon Prime members and on May 22 for all others. The company is even giving attractive offers on the purchase. So, before that date arrives let’s dig in and see if you really should settle with the OnePlus 6 or stretch the wait-period for another six months.

The OnePlus 3  which came with another model with a mild improvement, Oneplus 3T. The device even looked the same with only the darker gunmetal shade giving it away. The phone had a slightly better Snapdragon 821 compared to the Snapdragon 820 on the OnePlus 3 and even a slightly better battery. But, no Owner of Oneplus 3T regretted it just months ahead of the OnePlus 3T launch.

With the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T, the story began changing. On the inside, the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T were almost the same devices but with a slight change in its look, they seemed to be from different generations. All thanks to the taller aspect ratio and considerably thinner bezels. The OnePlus 5 had a screen to body ratio of 73 percent and the OnePlus 5T had a screen to body ratio of 80 percent.

This time around, the buyers of the OnePlus 5 seemed to have a slight regret of owning a device that didn’t look like it was from 2017. OnePlus 5T took that problem and fixed it with a taller and slimmer screen. And now the phone stood relevant amidst competition with phones in the premium segment.

We don’t know whether Oneplus announce its Oneplus 6T phone but while we consider the past experiences we might expect OnePlus 6T with more refinement by adding wireless charging, possibly a bigger camera for selfies, more RAM (12 GB???) and possibly even an under-display fingerprint reader (borrowed from its sibling Vivo). So, It’s your choice to wait or settle with Oneplus 6.
