Sharp Aquos R6 announced with world’s largest ultrasonic fingerprint sensor: Check details

Japanese smartphone maker Sharp has announced the Aquos R6 smartphone in its home country. It features a 1-inch Leica camera sensor and an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor that’s the largest in the world. Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 SoC, the phone packs 12GB of RAM.

The smartphone will launch after mid-June when its pricing details are also likely to be revealed. As of right now, there is no information on the availability of smartphone in other countries.

Sharp Aquos R6 Specifications

Sharp Aquos R6 comes with a 6.6-inch adaptive 120Hz WUXGA+ Pro IGZO OLED display with 1,260 x 2,730 pixels and 2000-nits of peak brightness. It gets juice from an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset coupled with 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The storage is further expandable up to 1TB via a MicroSD card.

In terms of optics, it has a dual-rear camera setup with a combination of a 20-megapixel 1-inch image sensor supervised by Leica with f/1.9 aperture, and a 12-megapixel f/2.3 sub-camera. There is also a selfie camera on the phone. The fingerprint sensor of AQUOS R6 has “Qualcomm 3D Sonic Max” which is 11 times larger than the conventional one and the largest size in the world. 

It boots the Android 11 operating system out of the box. Fuelled by the 5000mAh battery, the phone also supports fast charging. Other features of the phone are a dedicated Google Assistant key, IPX5/IP68 water, and dust resistance. Connectivity options include 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, and USB Type-C port.
