Here are the First Impressions on Galaxy J6:
Samsung Galaxy J6 first impressions:Display,design
Samsung Galaxy J6’s display is the highlight of the phone. The HD+ (720 x 1440) Super AMOLED screen is sharp and colourful. Since this is an Infinity display, naturally it is better for watching videos. It has decent brightness levels and colour reproduction is accurate – something that is expected from Samsung’s stellar display panels.
Galaxy J6’s design is a breather from previous Galaxy J series mid-range smartphones. There’s still a polycarbonate shell, but one that looks and feels much more premium in hand. It’s the right blend of a matte and glossy finish that users need to experience firsthand to get an idea of.
The battery is also non-replaceable with the unit completely sealed. The microUSB port at the bottom is for charging, and there’s still a headphone jack.
The phone’s mono speaker can be seen above the power button on the top corner on the right-hand side, which I think is an odd position. Plus, you will find a fingerprint scanner on the back which works fine in my brief testing. Samsung has added up to 256GB microSD card support, in case you want to expand the internal memory.
Samsung Galaxy J6 first impressions: Camera
The camera department is another which Samsung says has received massive upgrades. The Galaxy J6 sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/1.9 aperture. While there’s an 8-megapixel selfie camera with f/1.9 aperture.
The Galaxy J6 also comes with Face Unlock feature which should appeal to consumers in this price segment. We tested out the feature and it works as intended and looks impressive for starters.
Samsung Galaxy J6 first impressions:Performance,software
A great plus point for the Galaxy J6 is that it runs Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box. While not the latest software experience per se, it is still better than a lot of other mid-range offerings that still rock the old Android Nougat builds. There is no official word on an Android P and we definitely wouldn’t be too hopeful about the Galaxy J6 getting that kind of an update anytime in the near future. It has two variants with 3GB or 4GB RAM and 32GB or 64GB internal storage
Samsung has also offered a lot of accessibility features on the device including its own voice assistant Bixby, Memory management, Split screen view, face recognition, fingerprint sensor and more. Included apps in the smartphone comprise of Samsung’s own bunch of offerings like Samsung Mall, Samsung Pay Mini, S-Bike Mode and more.
Samsung Galaxy J6 first impressions: Battery
There is a 3,000mAh battery under the hood which is good enough to last a day but cannot deliver more than that with extensive use.
Verdict
Samsung Galaxy J6 is available to buy right now for Rs 13,990 for the base variant and goes up to Rs 16,490 for the top-end variant, the one with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. Of course, the Galaxy J6 is not perfect, it is not bad either. It is a great option for those who can’t dream of buying the Galaxy A8+ and Galaxy S9+.
