Samsung Galaxy Fold Appears on Geekbench with Unimpressive Scores

| By DWR Editor

South Korean giant, Samsung announced the first foldable smartphone ‘Galaxy Fold’ recently. A few days back, a hands-on video of the Galaxy Fold also surfaced online, revealing that the crease where it folds might be very visible. Now, a listing for a Galaxy Fold has turned up on Geekbench that shows some surprising details and unimpressive benchmark results.

The smartphone, which has the model number “SM-900F” associated with it in the Geekbench post, will apparently offer Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 octa-core processor with a base clock of 1.78 GHz and a whopping 12Gb of RAM. Still, that is not enough to help the Galaxy Fold to obtain a decent score in Geekbench. This is quite surprising to see considering that the flagship will be sporting the Qualcomm’s latest and powerful Snapdragon 855 chipset.

The single core score of the phone is just 3418 and the multi-core score reads 9703, this is definitely not a description of a flagship-level device. It is worth to mention that even the most affordable of its flagships this year, the Galaxy S10e has scored more than 4257 and 9837 in Geekbench’s single-core and multi-core test.

However, for now, we will recommend you to take this report with a pinch of salt. Samsung might have taken the Galaxy Fold into the prototype phase and this could be one of the prototype units that is being tested on Geekbench.

To recall, Samsung’s first foldable smartphone comes with two displays — one on the outside and another that’s revealed when you open the phone up. The outer display is a 4.6-inch HD+ Super AMOLED panel with a 21:9 aspect ratio. The inner/main display of the Galaxy Fold is a large 7.3-inch QXGA+ Dyanic AMOLED canvas with a form factor of 4.2:3. Moreover, the device is equipped with a total of 6 cameras. Under the hood, the Galaxy Fold gets an octa-core (2.84GHz single-core, 2.42GHz tri-core, 1.8GHz quad-core, Kryo 485) processor, which is seated upon the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset.
