Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) Spotted on Geekbench With Android Pie

Samsung might soon start rolling out Android 9 Pie update to its Galaxy A8 (2018) smartphone as some screenshots showing the new OS on the device spotted on mobile benchmarking website Geekbench. The images purportedly show the Galaxy A8 (2018) running Android 9 Pie and the Geekbench listing suggests the Pie update is currently in testing.

The Galaxy A8 (2018) scored 1,533 points in the single-core and 4,321 points in the multi-core test on Geekbench. The latest report also hints that Android Pie is the last and major Galaxy A8 (2018) software update, as Samsung provides only two major system updates for mid-range devices.

Samsung is expected to roll out the latest OneUI skin on top of the Pie update to the Galaxy A8 2018. Some of the new features on the Android 9 Pie update is likely to include improved One-handed use and a system-wide Dark Theme, all-new design language.

The rollout timeline is yet to be revealed by the company. However, as revealed by the update roadmap shared by Samsung recently, the device is expected to get the update in the month of April. As it is a major update, this update will take a few months to be available to all users through download notification.

To recall, the Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) features 5.6-inch display with a resolution of 1080 pixels by 2220 pixels. The device is powered by 1.6GHz octa-core processor and it comes with 4GB of RAM. The phone packs 32GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 256GB via a microSD card. In terms of optics, the Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) packs a 16-megapixel primary camera on the rear and a 16-megapixel front shooter for selfies. The smartphone backs 3,000mAh battery along with support for fast charging.
