Samsung Exynos 9610 SoC May Soon Appear in Motorola Phones

Samsung is one of the biggest names in Android smartphones, but conversation changes when you look closely at the processors on which they work. Qualcomm has dominated the mobile chip market for many years, but Samsung seems interested in doing something in this.

Now, according to the new reports the Lenovo-owned Motorola might be planning to launch two new mid-range devices with Samsung’s Exynos 7 Series 9610 processor. Last year, a report from Reuters hinted that Samsung’s beginning talks with ZTE and other OEMs to supply its Exynos processors to Android phones other than its own.

As you know, Exynos processors are only found in Samsung Galaxy phones and in few Meizu phones right now. Earlier, some of the Lenovo phones have also used the Exynos processor.

Samsung has a lot of work ahead of itself before it can compete directly with the likes of Qualcomm and MediaTek in the chipset market. For the time being, the report should be taken with a pinch of salt, and wait for the company to make an official announcement.

Exynos 7

To recall, Samsung has announced the Exynos 9610 SoC last year which is a part of the Exynos 7 series, which generally powers upper mid-range smartphones such as company’s A lineup.
The new Exynos 9610 has an octa-core processor with 4x Cortex-A73 cores running at 2.3GHz and 4x Cortex-A53 ones clocked at 1.6GHz. The GPU in charge of graphics is Mali-G72MP3, a good upgrade over the Mali-G71MP2 in the previous Series 7 chip. The Exynos 9610 has a new ISP with support for 4K @ 120fps video recording and Full HD @ 480fps slow-mo capturing.

“The Exynos 7 Series 9610 is our latest mobile processor that delivers on added power and speed. But more importantly, it sets a new performance standard for high-end devices with its deep learning vision-image processing solution and slow-motion video capabilities that change the way we engage with our mobile devices,” said Ben Hur, Marketing Vice president of Samsung Electronics at the Launch of Exynos 9610 SoC back in March 2018.
