Redmi Note 9 with MediaTek Helio G85 SoC launched

Alongside the Mi Note 10 Lite, the Chinese brand Xiaomi has launched another Redmi Note series smartphone, dubbed as the Redmi Note 9. It is the fourth model in the Redmi Note 9 series as the brand already unveiled Redmi Note 9S, Redmi Note 9 Pro, and Redmi Note 9 Pro Max. Redmi Note 9 Price

Redmi Note 9 comes with a price tag of $199 (approx. Rs. 14,940) for the 3GB RAM and 64GB storage variant and $249 (approx. Rs. 18,690) for the 4GB RAM and 128GB storage model. It will go on sale in Forest Green, Polar White, and Midnight Grey colors.

Redmi Note 9 Specifications and features

In terms of specifications, the Redmi Note 9 comes with a 6.53-inch (1080 x2340 pixels) full HD+ display, 19.5:9 aspect ratio, and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. 

The phone also runs on a 2GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio G85 CPU, which is paired with 3GB/4GB of RAM. It is the first smartphone to be powered by the MediaTek Helio G85 8nm SoC. Internal storage tops out at 64GB/128GB, but thankfully, you can expand on that using a microSD card up to 512GB. 

Talking about the camera, we get a square-shaped quad-camera setup on the rear that includes a 48-megapixel Samsung GM1 primary sensor with an f/1.79 lens, an 8-megapixel secondary sensor with an ultra-wide-angle f/2.2 lens, a 2-megapixel sensor with a macro f/2.4 lens and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The Redmi Note 9 has a 13-megapixels front-facing camera that’s hidden behind a hole-punch cutout, and the phone will be running Android 10-based MIUI 11 OS.

As with several mid-range devices these days, the battery is a key highlight on the Redmi Note 9’s spec sheet. It comes equipped with a whopping 5,260mAh with up to 18W charging support. The phone measures 162.3 x 77.2 x 8.9mm and weighs 205 grams. Connectivity features on the phone include Dual SIM, 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5, NFC, USB Type-C, infrared (IR) blaster, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
