As scheduled, the Chinese smartphone brand Xiaomi has now finally launched new Redmi Note 8 series in home-country China. This new series includes the all-new Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro smartphones, all of which come with quad-rear cameras and a massive battery. Let’s talk about their specs, features, price and availability in detail.
Redmi Note 8 Specifications
Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 gets a 6.3-inch full-HD+ (1,080 x 2,340 pixels) display with a screen-to-body ratio of 90 percent and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The front and back are protected by Gorilla Glass 5.
Under the hood, the device gets powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 SoC, coupled with up to 6GB of RAM. For photography, the handset gets a total of four cameras at the rear. This includes a 48-megapixel primary sensor, an 8-megapixel 120-degree ultra-wide lens, a 2-megapixel macro lens and a 2-megapixel depth camera sensor for Portrait shots.
On the software front, the phone runs MIUI 10 on top of Android 9 Pie. All of this is backed by a massive 4,000mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging technology via USB Type-C.
Redmi Note 8 Pro Specifications
The Redmi Note 8 Pro, on the other hand, bears a 6.53-inch (1,080 x 2,340 pixels) display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio, and a screen-to-body ratio of 91.4 percent. Plus, both the front and back are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
The phone is powered by octa-core MediaTek Helio G90T SoC and gets up to 8GB of RAM. It runs MIUI 10 skin which is based on Android 9 Pie. The Helio G90T is a new gaming-centric chipset by MediaTek and the Xiaomi also added few more gaming features like Game Turbo 2.0 mode. The company will also be selling a game controller for the phone.
In the camera department, the phone gets a 64-megapixel main camera, 8-megapixel wide-angle shooter and two 2-megapixel cameras. For selfies, there’s a 20-megapixel camera. Unlike Redmi Note 8, it packs a 4,500mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging technology.
Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro Price, Availability
Redmi Note 8 is launched in three color options for buyers that include Dream Blue, Meteorite Black, and White. Similar to the predecessor the Redmi Note 7, the Black variant will be the only one without the gradient finish. The Redmi Note 8 Pro will be available for the buyers in three colors – Pearl White, Ice Emerald, and Electric Light Grey.
Talking about the price, the Redmi Note 8 price in China has been set at RMB 999 (approx. Rs 10,000)for the model with 4GB RAM /64GB storage configuration. The 6GB RAM and 64GB storage variant costs RMB 1,199 (approx. Rs 12,000). And the smartphone will be available for the first sale on September 17.
The Redmi Note 8 Pro, on the other hand, is priced at RMB 1,399 (approx. Rs 14,000) for the 6GB RAM and 64GB storage option. Thee is also a 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant which is priced at RMB 1,599 (approx. Rs 16,000). The top-end 8GB RAM and 128GB storage configuration costs RMB 1,799 (approx. Rs 18,000). It will be available for buyers on the first sale that will take place on September 3.
In addition to the regular Redmi Note 8 Pro, the company also introduced a World of Warcraft limited edition of the smartphone that will come with exclusive goodies, custom themes, and more.
