Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7 Pro Launched in India – Specifications, Price, Availability and More

The Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi has further expanded its portfolio with the inclusion of the two new smartphones in its mid-range Note series, launched today in India. Last month, the company had launched the Redmi Note 7 in home-country China and now, the smartphone has entered the Indian market along with another phone Redmi Note 7 Pro, the successor of Redmi Note 6 Pro.

As the name suggests, the Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7 Pro is a great upgrade to its predecessors concerning hardware and camera. The Redmi Note 7 replaces the Snapdragon 625 present on Redmi Note 5 with the Snapdragon 660. Furthermore, the Redmi Note 7 Pro replaces the Snapdragon 636 present on Redmi Note 6 Pro with the latest Snapdragon 675 SoC.

Redmi Note 7 Specifications

As far as the specifications are concerned, the Redmi Note 7 comes with a 6.3-inch FHD+ screen having an HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. The phone further flaunts a dot-notch (aka waterdrop notch) that aids for 19.5:9 aspect ratio

Powering the Redmi Note 7 is an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC. The handset further packs up to 4GB of RAM alongside up to 64GB of onboard storage. Moreover, the given MicroSD card slot allows for storage expansion.

For photography, the phone gets a dual camera set up at the back. The configuration comprises a 12-megapixel primary sensor and 2-megapixel AI cameras. There’s a 13-megapixel shooter at the front for selfies. Note that the Chinese version of Redmi Note 7 came with 48-megapixels rear camera with Samsung GM1 sensor. The camera app is equipped with nifty AI features like AI-based beautify mode, portrait mode other scene modes and it also supports AI face unlock feature.

A massive 4,000 mAh battery with Quick Charge 4 support via USB Type-C backs all of this. On the software terms, the Redmi Note 7 runs Android 9 Pie with MIUI 10 layered on top.

The Redmi Note 7 comes in two variants in India including 3GB RAM/32GB storage for Rs 9,999, 4GB RAM and 64GB storage for Rs 11,999. The Redmi Note 7 comes with gradient finish with Neptune Blue, Nebula Red, and Classic Space Black color options.

As for the specs, the Redmi Note 7 Pro sports a 6.3-inch FHD+ display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, thanks to the dot-notch.

Powering the device is an octa-core latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 chipset paired with up to 6GB of RAM and up to whopping 128GB of internal storage. Moving on, the given microSD card slot allows for further storage expansion.

In the optics department, the Redmi Note 7 Pro gets a dual camera setup at the rear. The configuration comprises a 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor, coupled with a secondary 5MP secondary sensor. Just like the Redmi Note 7, the camera app on the Note 7 Pro also powered by nifty AI-assisted features like AI-based beautify mode, AI scene detection, AI-based portrait mode 2.0. On the front, the handset gets a single 13MP AI front camera. The company said that the studio lighting selfie mode will be added later via an OTA update. This feature will show what studio lighting effect will look like when you take the phone in this mode.

Moreover, the Redmi Note 7 Pro camera supports 4K video recording at 30fps and it also has EIS. The company also claims the camera on the Redmi Note 7 Pro has 4x superior dynamic range. Furthermore, it has a 1/2-inch stacked CMOS sensor, which Xiaomi claims it is larger than Apple’s iPhone XS Max.

Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7 Pro Availability, First Sale

The Redmi Note 7 Pro will be available in India starting March 13 while the Redmi Note 7 will go on sale in India for the first time on March 6. Both the phones will be exclusively available on Flipkart, Mi.com and Mi Stores.
