Xiaomi has confirmed that it will soon be launching the successor of its Redmi K30 5G smartphone that was launched in December 2019. The new phone is being called Redmi K40 and the launch date in China is set for February 25th. The confirmation comes directly from the brand via a teaser.
Moreover, the GM of the Redmi brand, Lu Weibing has shared a post on Weibo that revealed the upcoming Redmi K40 will offer powerful performance, dual speakers, a flat display, and good battery life.
Redmi K40 Specifications
Though the brand has not explicitly mentioned anything about the specifications and features of the device, there are a lot of leaks and reports coming related to the forthcoming Redmi K40. The Redmi K40 is said to come with a punch-hole display and Redmi general manager Lu Weibing also confirmed that it will be the smallest punch-hole cutout on a smartphone yet. To recall, the predecessor Redmi K30 was launched with a pop-up selfie camera.
The display on the phone is tipped to be an LCD panel with FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, the phone is expected to be fueled by MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset, but there are also rumors that the phone will come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC or the Snapdragon 888 chipset with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage.
In terms of battery life, the phone reportedly packs more than 4,000mAh battery with fast charging support. Redmi K40 is expected to run on the latest MIUI 12.5 which is based on Android 11 and the device should come with 5G support as well.
Redmi K40 Price in China
Rumors suggest that the Redmi K40 could be priced at CNY 2,999 (approx Rs 34,000) for the base variant. However, there is no confirmation on this. The launch is not too far from now anyway, so we won’t have to wait for too long before things become officially clear.
