Xiaomi Redmi 9 officially teased, launch in India on August 4

Xiaomi Redmi 9 has been teased by the company to launch on August 4 in India and the teaser of the upcoming phone has also given some details on the launch. According to the teaser, the Redmi 9 will go on sale on Amazon during the Prime Day sale which is set to be held on August 6.

The official Redmi India account on Twitter has shared a teaser which confirms that the new Redmi phone is launching on 4th August in India. The image on the tweet shows the word ‘Prime’ and the reflection inside the smartphone shows NINE which hints at the launch of Redmi 9 in India on August 4.

To recall, the company has unveiled the Redmi 9 in its home-country China for 799 yuan (approx. Rs 8,540) with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. There is also a 4GB RAM with 128GB storage and 6GB RAM with 128GB storage models that are priced at 999 yuan (approx. Rs 10,675) and 1199 yuan (approx. Rs 12,815), respectively.

Xiaomi Redmi 9 Specifications

It sports a 6.53-inch Full HD+ IPS display with a screen resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels, 19.5:9 aspect ratio, 394ppi pixel density, 400nits brightness. The display has a dew-drop notch and Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Xiaomi Redmi 9 is powered by the MediaTek Helio G80 processor and it is coupled with Mali-G52 GPU. Paired with 3GB/4GB of RAM, the phone has 32GB/64GB internal storage. It also has a MicroSD card slot to expand up to 512GB.

On the front, you get an 8-megapixel (f/2.0) selfie shooter and the rear side is managed by a 13-megapixel (f/2.2) main camera aided by an 8-megapixel (f/2.2) 118° ultra-wide-angle lens, 2-megapixel depth sensor, and a 5-megapixel (f/2.4) macro lens. You also get an LED flash and a fingerprint reader on the backside.

It ships with Android 10-based MIUI 11 skin. Backed by a 5,020mAh battery, the phone charges through a USB-C port at up to 18W. Connectivity options include  IR blaster, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5, GPS + GLONASS, NFC (Optional), USB Type-C and 3.5mm audio jack.
