The Redmi 6A looks more premium than the predecessor Redmi 5A, even though it is heavier than the 5A.

The Redmi 6A does not get any significant camera update compared to the Redmi 5A, yet that is reasonable since the camera on the Redmi 5A was good for the price tag of Rs. 5,999.
Both the Redmi 5A and Redmi 6A sport a 13MP back camera and a 5MP selfie shooter, with the rear camera getting LED flash, HDR mode and panorama modes, HD video recording, and phase detection autofocus. However, the brand-new Redmi 6A comes with a face-unlock feature which is a trendy feature these days.

Both the phone comes with two variants: 2GB RAM and 16GB storage, and a 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. Redmi 6A also has a memory slot to expand storage up to 256 GB, like Redmi 5A.

The predecessors Redmi 5A was launched with Android Nougat and it is running on MIUI 9, now. The new Redmi 6A comes with MIUI 9.6 based on the Android Oreo 8.1 out of the box and company promised to give MIUI 10 update soon.

In the battery, both are indistinguishable. Both accompany a 3,000mAh battery with no quick charging support. Both come with a micro USB 2.0 port for charging. Connectivity options are same, including Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, GLONASS, Micro-USB, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. But the Redmi 6A has dual 4G dual standby.

The Redmi 5A is priced at Rs 5,999 for the base 2GB RAM variant, and Rs 6,999 for the 3GB RAM plus 32GB storage variant. While the Redmi 6A has been priced at Rs. 5,999 for the 2GB RAM RAM/ 16GB onboard storage model and Rs. 6,999 for the 2GB RAM/ 32GB variant.
