Oppo’s sub-brand Realme has confirmed that it is going to launch a flagship phone soon with the powerful Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC. There’s no official name for the upcoming smartphone yet, but Realme says it will be a flagship device which will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC.
Other specifications of the Realme’s upcoming Snapdragon 855 Plus powered phone are still kept under wraps, but it represents a major leap for a brand that was which has so far focused on entry-level and budget smartphones only. There is no word on the exact launch date of the Redmi’s new smartphone and the phone is expected to first debut in home country China.
In a separate post, a Realme executive revealed that the company will launch the Realme 5 smartphone in India sometimes before Diwali this year. Considering Realme series focuses only on the budget and mid-range segment, it is confirmed that the Realme 5 won’t be the phone that will be fuelled by Snapdragon 855 Plus.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus SOC is built for gaming, with cutting edge performance, improved graphics, an uplift in CPU performance, and robust 4G and 5G connectivity. Snapdragon 855+ boasts 15% faster graphics rendering and an uplift in CPU performance over the standard Snapdragon 855. Utilizing all cores, Snapdragon 855+ packs 3 times the power of the Snapdragon 845. It features Qualcomm Kryo 485 CPU built on Arm Cortex Technology which now runs on a clock speed of up to 2.96 GHz compared to the Snapdragon 855 which runs on a clock speed of up to 2.84GHz.
The company is also gearing up to launch a 5G smartphone in the Indian market by the end of this year. So, we can expect this SD 855 Plus powered phone to launch after the launch of the Realme 5G smartphone.
