Realme 8 series is finally updated with the Realme 8i and Realme 8s 5G smartphones in India. The Realme 8i faces competition from the Redmi 10 Prime, Samsung Galaxy M21 2021 Edition, and Poco M3, whereas the Realme 8s 5G will compete against Samsung Galaxy A22 5G, iQOO Z3, and the Oppo A74 5G.
Realme 8i, Realme 8s 5G price in India, availability
For the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant, the Realme 8i is priced at Rs. 13,999 in India. It is also available with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage for Rs. 15,999. On the other hand, the Realme 8s 5G is priced at Rs. 17,999 for its 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant, and Rs. 19,999 for its 8GB RAM + 128GB model.
It will be able to be purchased in Space Black and Space Purple color options, while the Realme 8s 5G will be available in Universe Blue and Universe Purple color options. Realme 8s 5G will go on sale starting 12 pm (noon) on September 13 while the Realme 8i will go on sale at 12 pm (noon) on September 14. You will be able to purchase both phones from Flipkart, Realme.com, and major offline retailers across the country.
The Realme 8i can be purchased using HDFC Bank credit, debit, or Easy EMI transactions or ICICI Bank credit or credit EMI transactions at a discount of Rs. 1,000. Likewise, HDFC and ICICI Bank customers buying the Realme 8s 5G will receive a discount worth Rs. 1,500 through credit, debit, or Easy EMI transactions.
Realme 8i specifications
The Realme 8i has a 6.6-inch full-HD+ display with a 1,080×2,412 pixels screen resolution, 90.80 percent screen-to-body ratio, 100 percent DCI-P3 colour gamut, 180Hz touch sampling rate, and Dragontrail Pro protection. Furthermore, it has six different dynamic refresh rates — 30Hz, 48Hz, 50Hz, 60Hz, 90Hz, and 120Hz.
The Realme 8i is powered by a MediaTek Helio G96 SoC, which was launched in July. It has up to 6GB of LPDDR4x RAM and it also supports 5GB Virtual RAM that enhances multitasking by using the phone’s free storage.
In terms of optics, the Realme 8i comes with a triple rear camera setup consisting of a 50-megapixel primary Samsung S5KJN1 sensor with an f/1.8 five-piece lens, along with a 2-megapixel monochrome portrait sensor and a 2-megapixel sensor with a macro lens. There is a 16-megapixel selfie camera on the front that supports artificial intelligence (AI) backed beautification functions, HDR mode, portrait mode, and a ‘Panoselfie’ feature, which is claimed to help capture wider selfies.
The Realme 8i has up to 128GB of internal storage that can be expanded with a microSD card (up to 256GB) using the dedicated card slot. Realme 8i runs on Realme UI 2.0 based on Android 11.
The phone features 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/A-GPS, and a Micro-USB port. Additionally, the phone has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
The Realme 8i comes with a 5,000mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging. It measures 164.1×75.5×8.5mm and weighs 194 grams.
Realme 8s 5G specifications
Realme 8s 5G runs on Android 11 with Realme UI 2.0 on top. Realme 8s 5G sports a 6.5-inch full-HD+ display with a screen resolution of 1,080×2,400 pixels, 20:9 aspect ratio, 90Hz refresh rate, a 180Hz touch sampling rate, a 90.5 percent screen-to-body ratio, and 600 nits of peak brightness. Powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 810 SoC, the Realme 8s 5G features up to 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM. Similar to the Realme 8i, it is equipped with 5GB Virtual RAM support.
It’s equipped with a triple rear camera setup, which includes a 64-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.8 lens, a 2-megapixel monochrome portrait sensor with an f/2.4 lens, and a 2-megapixel sensor with an f/2.4 macro lens. There is a 16-megapixel front-facing camera sensor with f/2.1 aperture on the Realme 8s 5G.
As for storage, the Realme 8s 5G comes with 128GB of UFS 2.1 that can be expanded via microSD card (up to 1TB) through a dedicated slot.
Realme 8s 5G comes with a 5,000mAh battery that supports 33W Dart Charge fast charging (an 11V/ 3A charger is included in the box). This phone is equipped with a number of connectivity options, including WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.1, A-GPS, and a USB Type-C port. There is also a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. The device measures 162.5×74.8×8.8mm and weighs 191 grams.
