The much-awaited Pixel 3A and Pixel 3A XL have been leaked several times. Many leaked renders of the phones have already revealed almost everything about the devices. Now, its time for upcoming Google’s flagship fourth generation Pixel series. A new report has pointed out the codenames of both the upcoming Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL devices.
The Android Open Source Project website revealed that the Pixel 4 codename is Coral, while the Pixel 4 XL is Flame. However, a mysterious device with code name Needlefish is listed and that still leaves the question about the codename. Till now, we are unable to associate any specific device with Needlefish. May be its own standalone device running some form of Android.
Furthermore, last year, an alleged Google Pixel 4 was spotted on Geekbench with same codename, Coral and surprisingly, it was spotted running on Android Q. The device was rumoured to be powered by the 7nm Snapdragon 855 chipset paired with at least 6GB of RAM. Google has not issued any official statement about this speculation.
Both Coral and Flame has been reportedly spotted on the AOSP website, making it safe to assume that Google has started testing the devices. In the meantime, tech giant Google is working hard on the next version of its mobile OS, Android Q and we’ve seen few Pixel phones caught running on Android Q OS as well.
To be clear, these leaks are not definitive proof of the Pixel 4 series smartphones codenames and we shall have to wait for few more leaks in coming days to get official confirmation.
