Oppo has just launched its latest mid-range smartphone but not in India it is in Japan. The new smartphone is dubbed as Oppo R17 Neo which seems to be one of the variants of the Oppo K1 and R15X, which are partially based on the Oppo R17.
Back in August, The company had launched Oppo R17 and R17 Pro smartphones in its home country and the new device is also expected to launch in China. The Oppo R17 Neo key selling point is its in-display fingerprint sensor, and it is the first smartphone in Japan to come with this feature which is priced at JPY 3,218 a month on contract or JPY 38,988 for the unlocked version. The handset is available in two beautiful colour options namely Mocha Red and Astral Blue.

The Oppo R17 Neo comes fitted with a 6.4-inch (2340 x 1080 pixels) Full HD+ AMOLED display with waterdrop notch, 91% screen-to-body ratio, which houses the fingerprint reader. The computational power of the phone took a bit of a hit. The Oppo R17 Neo has a Snapdragon 660 chipset (down from S670) with 4GB of RAM (down from 6-8GB). The storage remains at 128GB and the microSD card slot is still here.
The company aims to provide almost all screen design by housing a dewdrop type notch where it houses front camera of 25Mp with a couple of AI features, while there is a dual 16MP + 2MP with LED flash on the flip side.
The handset housed a larger battery of 3,600mAh.On the software side, the R17 Neo runs on the ColorOS 5.2 UI based on Android 8.1 Oreo.
In terms of connectivity, The Oppo R17 Neo gets dual 4G VoLTE, a USB Type-C Port, Bluetooth 5.0 LE. The handset measures 158.3 x 75.5 x 7.4 mm and weighs 156 grams.
