OnePlus Sets Jan 15, 2019 Goal: Could Be A New 5G Flagship Device?

The Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus has confirmed that it has set a new goal for Jan. 15, 2019, on official Weibo handle. The official OnePlus Weibo handle posted an image with the highlighted January 15 date.

Since several other smartphone manufacturers, as well as competitors including OPPO, Vivo, Xiaomi, Huawei, and Lenovo, are planning to launch their first 5G phones in the upcoming year of 2019. There is a possibility that OnePlus also could be intending to launch a 5G smartphone in January 2019.

As you know, both Oppo and OnePlus are from the same parent company, BBK Electronics. This is the reason behind both Oppo and OnePlus launching similar phones from the past few months. The OnePlus’s Dash Charge technology is a version of VOOC rapid charging used by OPPO in their smartphones.

OPPO’s assistant VP had stated that Oppo could become the first manufacturer to mass produce a 5G smartphone in 2019. Furthermore, an image of a modified OPPO R15 with Snapdragon X50 LTE modem that supports 5G connectivity had revealed on Weibo.

The Co-founder of OnePlus earlier stated that the company had some big goals for its future, which included a 5G device, and some rumors suggested that the company is in contact with US barriers for partnership.

OnePlus generally launches its new smartphones in Q2, every year. In any case, the goal of the company that has been set for Jan. 15, 2019 which is interesting. OnePlus is aiming to release the OnePlus 6T in upcoming months. Things being what they are, possibly the company is chipping away at a 5G version of OnePlus 6T which could be revealed at the start of 2019? We just need to wait!
