The refreshed version of Nokia 6 where HMD made leading changes which made the device to take considerable place in Android industry. The Finnish company has launched a second variant, with an impressive with the clean and fluid software package, build quality, performance, and battery life, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, priced at Rs. 18,999.
When 2018 revamp was announced, there was a lot of excitement among Android purists about the updated design, upgraded chipset, and addition of fast charging. The price has had a little bump too.
Here we are going to know Is it worth to extra spend .And what Addons made the phone so upgraded that made its sway in the Android space.
Design and display
In true the New Nokia 6 doesn’t have much change from the previous version. The phone is built like a tank. The 148.8 x 75.8 x 8.6mm (including camera bump) unibody is made from 6000-series aluminum with flat diamond-cut sides, rounded corners and a highlight color on the outlines. Which feels incredibly solid in hand.
The device is available in three gorgeous colors namely Black/Copper colorway, which is an innovative way to make yet another black rectangle look different – and classier than its competition, the deep blue option with gold accents, and White/Iron, which is a pale silver with metallic reddish.
The device is such a wide, which hampers one-handed use considerably.A nd also wa eighty piece with 172g .
The design is largely unchanged from last year, although the Nokia 6.1 has slightly reduced bezels. That’s because the fingerprint sensor is now located at the back of the device. The camera housing is also more oblong, with the flash module moving further below the back. It’s great that HMD switched to USB-C with the Nokia 6.1. Far too many budget phones still feature a MicroUSB port, so in this area, HMD is ahead of other brands.
The fingerprint sensor is located just where your finger rests at the back, and it’s just as fast as other budget devices. And talking about the basics, the Nokia 6.1 has a 3.5mm jack located up top.
It bears 5.5-inch LCD panel is bright and punchy Although the device is still a 16:9 panel and not 18:9 like most phones in this category. The panel has decent colors, although the color balance is more toward the cooler side of things. Sunlight readability, on the other hand, is excellent, and I faced zero issues using the Nokia 6.1 under harsh sunlight.
Performance , Storage and Software
The Nokia 6.1 4GB of RAM is bundled with an onboard storage space of 64GB which you can readily expand further based on your requirements up to 128GB via a microSD card.
The main issue with last year’s Nokia 6 was the underwhelming Snapdragon 430 chipset. It wasn’t able to handle the Full HD panel, and as a result, the phone felt laggy during everyday tasks. Thankfully, that isn’t the case on the Nokia 6.1 ,packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 chip comprising an octa-core Cortex-A53 CPU clocked at 2.2GHz, which comes paired with an Adreno 508 GPU and 3GB of RAM. All this is a pretty big upgrade over the 2017 version of the phone.
The handset also comes loaded with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box, and – like on previous Nokia smartphones – HMD is offering a largely vanilla OS experience, likely the most stripped-back you’ll find outside of Google’s own Pixel range.
Camera
As for the Nokia 6’s shutterbugs, it features a 16MP solo rear camera at f/2.0 and dual-tone LED flash and an 8MP fixed-focus selfie camera, at f/2.0.
Unlike, all new phones which trending with dual rear lens the device doesn’t bears dual lens rear camera on the Nokia 6 can you really complain at this price? The likes of the Honor 9 Lite have managed it, though, so perhaps we’ll see it on the 2019 model.
As for picture quality, the Nokia 6’s rear-facing cam does the job. It’s not the fastest around but it switches between still photo and video modes fairly quickly, and there’s also a pro mode for fiddling with settings – just don’t expect anything on the level of the impeccably complex Huawei P20 Pro.
It takes decent photos in daylight scenarios, but it struggles to focus in low-light conditions. There’s also a fair bit of noise from resultant low-light shots.
Surprisingly for the price, there’s also a 4K video recording option at 30fps, which works relatively well. We say “relatively” because shooting in this mode does warm the phone, drain the battery quickly and fills up its storage quickly – proof that a device of this calibre is not really meant for such high-quality image capture.
The selfie cam does have a nice wide-angle lens though, which is nice to see.
Battery and connectivity
Similar to the Nokia 6 (2018), the Nokia 6.1 4GB of RAM ships with various connectivity options which include 4G, GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, and a USB Type-C port. Also, there is dual SIM support.
The handset sips juice from a 3,000mAh battery that ships with fast charging support. You can refuel the battery on the smartphone by up to 50% in less than 30 minutes.
Verdict
With a considerable downsides still, it withstand along market hitters with such a price tag . Admittedly, it doesn’t offer wireless charging, a dual-lens rear camera, waterproofing or an 18:9 display, but nor do many of the other phones in its price bracket, and some of those are lacking even more basic features (fingerprint scanners and NFC come to mind).
Pros
- Stock Android with guaranteed updates .
- Durable yet attractive handset Generous HD screen.
Cons
- Solo rear camera.
- Battery just about lasts the day.
- Audio is a bit disappointing.
