Motorola Edge S confirmed to launch on January 26 with new Snapdragon 870 SoC

The launch of the Motorola Edge S has been confirmed by the brand. The Motorola Edge S is all set to launch in China on January 26. The company took to Lenovo‘s official Weibo account to make the announcement on the Motorola Edge S smartphone’s launch.

The company shared a teaser image of the upcoming phone on Weibo – a Chinese microblogging site and it revealed that the Motorola Edge S will be the first phone in the world to be powered by the Snapdragon 870. The Snapdragon 870 is a 7nm chipset with a clock speed of 3.2GHz. It is an overclocked version of the Snapdragon 865 Plus which itself is an overclocked version of the Snapdragon 865.

As for the specifications, the company has not disclosed any other details regarding the specs, but it has been reported to feature a 6.7-inch FHD+ display with an unusual 105Hz refresh rate. The display will also house dual punch-hole selfie cameras. Additionally, the phone may run ZUI based Android 11 OS out of the box. The handset will be paired with 8GB/12GB RAM.

The phone could draw power from a 5000mAh battery, however, there are no details on the fast charging technology. Its quad-camera will have a 64MP main camera and a 16MP ultra-wide-angle camera. On the front, it is said to have a 16MP sensor paired with an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera.
