Microsoft Corp made Surface Go tablet official which is cheaper that takes on Apple Inc.’s cheapest iPad.
The Surface Go promises to offer the full blown Surface experience on a budget. The device starts at a price of $399 (or approx Rs 27,433), but you need to spend more in order get its cover and surface pen. Surface Go tablet that is available for pre-order right now and will start shipping in early August.
This tablet takes a design and looks as its predecessor in a smaller foam. While coming to its display it is a 10- inch with 1800×1200 resolution screen that comes with a 3:2 aspect ratio display, weighs 521g and come with USB-C 3.1 port that can charge and output video.
The base model ships with 4GB RAM and 64GB of eMMC flash storage, while the top-end model comes with 8GB RAM and 128GB of SSD storage. Both variants of the Surface Go are powered by Intel’s 7th generation Pentium Gold 4415Y processor. At present, Surface Go will be made available in Wi-Fi-only configurations. LTE variants of the Surface Go should come to the market at a later date.
The Surface Go runs Windows 10 S runs out-of-the-box, This means users will only be able to access the Edge browser and apps available in the Microsoft Store. However, they can choose to upgrade to full Windows 10 Home for free.
The device comes with a built-in Kickstand that can be adjusted as the user likes, a front-facing camera of 5MP with facial recognition login facility, and Microsoft’s proprietary Surface Connector port for that is used for charging and connecting to a desktop dock. The bezels around the display are rather large for the generation it is being launched in. Though these large bezels are helpful when holding the tablet.
As for the accessories, the Surface Go Type Cover (black) is priced at $99 while the Surface Go Signature Type Cover (Alcantara, red, blue, or silver) is priced at $129. Besides this, the Surface Mobile Mouse is priced at $34.99 and Surface Pen at $99.
The Surface Go will be available for pre-order beginning on July 10 in countries like the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Switzerland, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Poland, Italy, Portugal, and Spain. While there are a few countries where it will arrive later this year, there is no clarity on whether the Surface Go will make it to India.
