Mi 10 to Launch in India on March 31, Company Confirms

The Chinese arm of the smartphone maker Xiaomi has announced that it will be introducing the Mi 10 5G phone in India on March 31. Mi India on Twitter has confirmed March 31st as the launch date for the Mi 10 5G phone and the pre-orders for the same will begin on the same day. In its announcement post, Xiaomi confirmed that the phone is launching with the 108MP camera. 

In a separate post, a tipster Mukul Sharma claimed that the Xiaomi will only launch the Mi 10 in India and not the Pro model. Furthermore, a recent tweet by Xiaomi Global VP Manu Kumar Jain hinted the Mi 10 will cost more in India because of the direct import, hiked GST rate and depreciating rupee. 

In China, the brand has announced the Mi 10  and Mi 10 Pro for RMB 3,999 (approx. Rs 41,000) and RMB 4,999 (approx. Rs 51,000) respectively. So, Mi 10 price in India is likely to be well above Rs 40,000 and could very well be the company’s most expensive phone in the country yet.

Xiaomi Mi 10 Specifications

Mi 10 comes equipped with a 6.67-inch full-HD+ curved AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels, 90Hz refresh rate, 180Hz touch sampling rate. It has a peak brightness of 1,120 nits and offers a 5,000,000:1 contrast ratio. It is fuelled by the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.0 storage.

For photography, the phone features a quad rear camera setup on the rear that includes a 108-megapixel main camera with a 7-element lens, 1/1.33-inch sensor, and OIS support. It is paired with a 13-megapixel wide-angle lens with a 123-degree field of view and f/2.4 aperture. It also sports a pair of 2-megapixel cameras with f/2.4 lenses. The handset is capable of recording 8K videos at a resolution of 7,680×4,320 pixels. The punch-hole houses a single 20-megapixel selfie shooter.

The handset is backed by a 4,780mAh battery with support for 30W wired charging and 30W wireless charging. The phone also supports 10W reverse wireless charging. It runs Android 10-based MIUI 11. It supports dual-mode 5G (SA + NSA) and Wi-Fi 6 standards.
