Meizu Zero a portless smartphone was nothing but a failed marketing gimmick

Meizu with a lot of hype launched its world-first port-less or hole less smartphone over a month ago. The Meizu said the smartphone comes with no ports or holes which major highlight of the phone which is unseen in the smartphones till now.

The company also made the smartphone available for pre-order through a failed crowdfunding campaign. With each piece costs approximately $ 1,299 ((plus that single $2,999 “Exclusive Pioneering Unit”), With no surprise, this device attracted only 29 backers and failed to meet its funding goal on Indiegogo. For now, there is no word on future production Zero handsets.

Meizu’s CEO Jack Wong has said that the company’s Zero smartphone was just a ‘marketing gimmick’ and the Chinese electronics maker has no intentions of mass producing the handset in future.

Meizu founder responded to the official forum saying,  “This crowdfunding project was just the marketing team messing about. The holeless phone is just a development project from the R&D department, we never intended to mass-produce this project.”

Meizu Zero “holeless” features:

Meizu Zero smartphone claimed it is the first holeless smartphone that the device not interrupted by any physical ports or holes like speaker grille, headphone jack, SIM tray or USB port. For audio, the device uses an innovative audio tech “mSound 2.0” on its display for audio output doubling as a speaker and earpiece.

For powering it the smartphone users ‘Pressure Sensing Technology’ and also used for increasing or decreasing the volume. A physical SIM tray is replaced by eSIM functionality which is a virtual SIM that is preloaded in the device.

Meizu Zero specifications:

Meizu Zero features a full HD 5.99-inch Super AMOLED display with 2.5D curved glass on top. The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm’s older Snapdragon 845 processor. In the photography department, Meizu Zero sports dual 12-megapixel and 20-megapixel rear cameras. Up front, the smartphone houses a 20-megapixel selfie-camera.
