After releasing the Android Pie 9.0 update with stable build along with some exciting features. Promptly out of the stable build, Android Pie was rolled out for Google’s Pixel phones and additionally the Essential Phone. However, during the I/O event, Google announced a partnership with other smartphone brands including Sony, HTC, Xiaomi, Nokia, Oppo, Vivo, and OnePlus to bring Android Pie update to some of their phones. Many smartphone companies have started pushing the update to their popular phones as well.
Now, the Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi lists phone models in line for receiving Android Oreo and Android Pie update. So here is a list of Xiaomi smartphones receiving Android Pie update.
From the above list, it is clear that only a few smartphones from Xiaomi will receive the 9 Pie update. As we know, the Xiaomi Mi 5, Mi 5s, Mi 5s Plus, Mi 6, Mi 8, Mi 8 SE, Mi 8 Lite, Mi 8 Explorer Edition, Mi 8 Pro, Mi MIX, Mi MIX 2, Mi Note 2, and Mi Note 3 are already running Android 8.0 Oreo. So, only the Redmi 5, Redmi 5A, Redmi 5 Plus, and Redmi 5X will receive the Android Oreo update at the end of this year.
In contrast, we know that the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S, Mi 8, and Mi 8 Explorer Edition and recently launched Mi Mix 3 are already running on Android 9.0 Pie. Xiaomi launched these smartphones with the latest version of Android. So, only three smartphones that are the Mi 8 Pro, Mi 8 SE, and Mi Max 3 will get Android 9 Pie Update in the fourth quarter of this year. The smartphones which will receive the Android Pie update in Q4 including Mi 8 Screen Fingerprint edition, Mi 8 SE.
We can also expect the Android Pie update on Mi A2 as the company promised quick updates under Google’s Android One program. So, Xiaomi Mi A2 could be among the first few handsets outside of the Google Pixel family to receive the Android 9 Pie update.
