LG G8 ThinQ, G8s ThinQ Launched with SD 855, ToF Sensor-based Air Motion Gestures: Price, Specifications, Features

South Korean giant LG announced the launch of two smartphones in latest flagship range – LG G8 ThinQ and LG G8s ThinQ – at an MWC 2019 event. The highlighting features of the devices include Qualcomm SD 855, ToF (time of flight) Z Camera and infrared sensor, Air motion gestures, and the Crystal Sound OLED.

 

 LG G8 ThinQ Specifications and Features

The LG G8 ThinQ comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor. It features 6GB RAM. This phone will be available only in the 128GB memory variant. However, the storage can be expanded further up to 2TB using a microSD. The LG G8 ThinQ sports a 6.1-inch Quad HD Full Vision OLED display.

In terms of optics, the G8 ThinQ has a triple rear camera setup with a 16MP super wide angle lens, a 12MP standard lens, and a 12MP telephoto lens. Up front, there is an 8MP selfie camera with a Z camera that features time-of-flight technology for more accurate face unlock feature.

On the software front, the device runs on Android 9.0 Pie. It comes with 3,500 mAh with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0.

As we mentioned earlier, the LG G8 ThinQ has a crystal sound OLED stereo speaker that uses the phone’s display as a diaphragm and eliminates the need to have an earpiece in the front. Moreover, it comes with an Air Motion feature from which you can perform tasks such as answering calls, taking screenshots and adjusting volume level by waving or pinching in the air.

In terms of connectivity, the handset supports 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v5.0, NFC, FM radio, and USB Type-C (v3.1). Lastly, it measures 151.9×71.8×8.4mm and weighs 167 grams.

LG G8s ThinQ Specifications and Features

Coming to the LG G8s ThinQ, it is a cheaper variant of the LG G8 ThinQ. As for the specs, the LG G8s ThinQ gets a 6.2-inch full-HD+ display with a resolution of 1080×2248 pixels. Notably, LG is using the rear-mounted fingerprint scanner instead of trending in-display fingerprint feature.

Furthermore, the handset is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 855 processor coupled with 6GB RAM and 64GB/128GB storage.

In the optics department, the LG G8s ThinQ sports triple rear cameras. The setup comprises of a 12-megapixel primary sensor, a 13-megapixel wide-angle sensor, and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens.

On the software front, the LG G8s ThinQ runs the latest Android 9 Pie on top. A 3,550mAh battery with support for wireless charging backs all of this.

LG G8 ThinQ, LG G8s ThinQ Price and Release Date

The company hasn’t revealed the price of the LG G8 ThinQ and G8s ThinQ. As with most LG launches, the LG G7 ThinQ price will be announced locally closer to availability. Both the phones will be available in three color options: Carmine Red, Aurora Black, and Moroccan Blue.
