| By DWR Editor

Face Unlock feature is one of the popular technology that unlocks the phone by using infrared and visible light scans to uniquely identify your face. It works in a variety of conditions and is extremely secure. All we can say is Face ID a form of biometric authentication. Rather than a password or PIN, this feature relies on the unique characteristics of your face.

These days, Face ID technology is used by almost all competing devices, simply because it offers more security. Face ID is using 3D depth sensing with an infrared camera and a dot projector, although the companies like OnePlus, Samsung are using 2D methods that depend merely on the front-facing camera of the phone.

iPhone X vs Vivo X21: Unlock Anything with A Look

Apple and Vivo imagine a world where you unlock everything with your face. Whereas Apple introduces its Face ID feature along with the old Touch ID feature and Vivo is completely new to introduce this feature. iPhone X and Vivo X21 came with very funny video ads to show their face unlocking feature.

iPhone X Face Unlock

Apple introduces face ID feature in their iPhone X, they have used a combination of infrared emitter and sensor to paint 30,000 points of infrared light on and around your face and also capture flat or 2D infrared snapshots. For the points, the reflection is measured, which allows it to calculate the depth and angle from the camera for each dot and construct a depth map.

With the new Face Unlock feature, a simple glance, Face ID securely unlock your phone within a second! To unlock your iPhone X using Face ID, simply glance at it. Face ID requires that the TrueDepth camera sees your face, whether your iPhone X is lying on a surface or you’re holding it in a natural position. That’s all mandate to be able to unlock your phone with your face, and as long as the iPhone X can see your eyes, nose, and mouth you’ll be able to get into your handset easily. It can unlock your phone even if you were wearing sunglasses. Cool. Isn’t it?

Even though Apple’s Touch ID is faster than new Face ID feature, but it’s not as reliable. Apple introduces the Face Unlock feature as it more secure.

Vivo X21 was the first phone in India to feature an in-display fingerprint sensor. As a company claims, with the in-display fingerprint sensor makes it easy to unlock the smartphone quickly. Apart from the in-display fingerprint sensor, the Vivo X21 comes with the ability to unlock the device with your Face as well called Face Unlock feature, and with this AI Face Access feature you can unlock your phone in 0.1 seconds.

Vivo X21’s face unlocking feature is responsive as OnePlus Face Unlock system, admiring it for its quick response and accuracy. Vivo X21’s Face Unlock feature takes it a step further by utilizing an IR fill light for helping the camera to unlock in dim lit conditions. The camera can scan faces using 3D depth mapping, which is definitely better than the 2D face unlock system that we have seen on a majority of smartphones coming these days. The good thing about this setup is that it unlocks the device in an instant, even when there’s not enough ambient lighting.
