Huawei’s subbrand Honor is likely to launch its latest flagship smartphone Honor Magic 2 alongside with a smartwatch on October 31st.The new device is armed by a 7nm HiSilicon Kirin 980 chipset the most powerful flagship processor known for beasty performance and if rumours are believed the company to partner with the electric car maker Tesla to launch a special edition device.
With a few days due to launch the flagship device, there is new poster surfaced on the internet earlier this week, where the image containing the letters M and W. While the M is meant for Magic 2, today’s Weibo post clarifies, the W is for Honor’s new smartwatch called Honor Watch. The poster which was shared on Weibo by a user was also shared on Twitter by a number of users. But sadly we don’t find any details about the device.
From the teaser image, we can see the silhouette of the smartWatch with a circular dial and what comes across as two hardware buttons. The design is similar to the that of the Huawei Watch GT launched recently but the way in which the dial and strap are designed, the Honor Watch may end up looking visibly different from the Watch GT.
On the right side of the Honor Watch’s dial are the hardware buttons. We expect the Honor Watch to run on the same custom OS as seen on the Huawei Watch GT instead of the Google’s Android-based Wear OS. The Honor Watch will come with a continuous heart rate sensor and should be waterproof up to 5ATM. Coming to the internals, the upcoming device also expected to have the same internals as the Huawei Watch GT but with lesser features which should translate to a cheaper price tag. There is no clue on pricing yet, but the Honor Watch is expected to come in at $150 which translates to roughly Rs 11,000.
Meanwhile, the Huawei Watch GT comes in two variants — a Classic which sets you back by EUR 199 and a Sports version which costs EUR 249. Both run a custom OS and not Wear OS so it is likely that Honor will follow suit. The Watch GT lineup is also powered by a Cortex-M4 chipset and not the more common Qualcomm Snapdragon 2100 SoC or the newer Snapdragon 3100 chipset.
