Huawei Mate X2 with in-folding design, 90Hz display, Leica quad cameras launched

Huawei has added another foldable phone to its Mate series. The Huawei Mate X2 foldable smartphone has been launched in home-country China and is priced at 17,999 yuan (approx. Rs 2,01,705) for the base 8GB/256GB model. The top model with 8GB RAM and 512GB storage is priced at 18,999 yuan (approx. Rs 2,12,970). Huawei Mate X2 will go on sale in China starting February 25. Black, White, Crystal Blue, and Crystal Pink are three colors of the device.

Huawei Mate X2 Specifications

The Huawei Mate X2 has two displays – an outer screen and an inner display. It features a 6.45-inch OLED external screen that has a pill-shaped punch hole at the top left corner for two front-facing cameras. The display has a 2700 x 1160 resolution with 456 PPI, a 90Hz refresh rate, and a 240Hz touch sampling rate.

When unfolded, the inner display is 8-inches in size and features a 2480 x 2200 resolution with 413 PPI and a P3 wide colour gamut. It is also an OLED panel and has a 90Hz refresh rate and 180Hz touch sampling rate.

As for the power, the Huawei Mate X2 powered by a Kirin 9000 processor paired with 8GB of RAM. There is 256GB or 512GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 256GB via its proprietary NM card slot. On the software side of things, the smartphone runs EMUI 11.0 based on Android 10, but it will be the first phone to get HarmonyOS in April, said the company.

For photography, the phone packs a quad-camera system, which is powered by Leica. The setup includes a 50-megapixel RYYB main camera with f/1.9 aperture, OIS stabilization, and support for 4K video recording, an 8-megapixel periscope camera with 10x optical zoom and OIS stabilization, a 12-megapixel telephoto camera with f/2.4 aperture, 3x optical zoom, and OIS stabilization and a 16-megapixel ultra-wide lens with f/2.2 aperture which also doubles as a macro camera. For selfies, there is a 16-megapixel camera with an f/2.2 aperture on the secondary display (on the outside).

The phone has a 4,500mAh battery, which comes with 55W SuperCharge support. The 55W Huawei SuperCharge technology that will deliver 85 percent of power in 30 minutes of charge, a USB Type-C port. On the connectivity front, the phone supports 5G SA/NSA, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ax (2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth 5.2 LE, GPS (L1 + L5 dual-band), NavIC, NFC, and a USB 3.1 GEN1 Type-C port. The device measures 161.8 x 74.6 (145.8 unfolded) x 4.4 mm to 8.2 mm (unfolded) 13.6 to 14.7 mm (folded) and weighs 295 grams.
