Feast Your Eyes on the First iPhone XI Renders

| By DWR Editor

Apple’s expansion in to three main models of smartphones in 2018 was not recognized due to a 12% drop in the company’s share in December. However, the company has a quiet good history of bouncing back. It is too early to judge the fate of the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR, but now the company has confirmed that it will release three new iPhones in 2019, it can continue its current lineup.

The leaked renders of the iPhone 2019 reveal a square camera unit featuring three cameras aligned non-linearly. There are two cameras aligned vertically, like Apple iPhone XS. The render reveals there will be a third camera placed between the two, on the side. There will be an LED flash and a microphone on above and below, respectively.

According to OnLeaks, iPhone 2019 is still in the Engineering Validation Test (EVT) stage and detailed changes may occur when launching phones in September 2019. There are two more advanced versions of the iPhone XR and iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. It is difficult to conclude which variant will have three cameras, because still we are unaware of the scale at which the image was rendered. However, since there is a significant change in the camera setup, it is likely to be on top of the 2019 iPhone line.

In May, it was reported that the iPhone 2019 was set to include three camera lenses. An previous report by Bloomberg that claims Apple will utilize long-distance 3D ToF technology on the 2019 iPhones. With a non-aligned camera module on the rear, Apple could adopt the technology for the rear camera, similar to what we’ve seen in Oppo’s R17 Pro. Time-of-flight camera (ToF camera) is a range imaging camera system that resolves distance based on the known speed of light, measuring the time-of-flight of a light signal between the camera and the subject for each point of the image. Sony is said to be boosting the production of its next-generation 3D sensors after receiving interest from customers including Apple Inc, according to the report by Bloomberg.

“Cameras revolutionized phones, and based on what I’ve seen, I have the same expectation for 3D [cameras],” Satoshi Yoshihara, Head of Sony’s sensor division told Bloomberg.

The third camera can quickly focus on the object to create a 3D model. It can track an object almost immediately by throwing a laser pulse at the object in the dark and measuring the time it takes to return the laser to the sensor. Sensors can have a greater impact on AR and VR. Sony claims that the ToF sensor can be used for map rooms in real-time. The demo report states that Sony has shown that the camera can be used to track the user’s hand in games such as casting a spell.

The launch of the 2019 iPhones still 9 months away and we’re pretty sure that upcoming flagships will use a new technology to enhance the photography. Nonetheless, the renders reveal the black-coloured rear panel will be made of glass and Apple logo positioned in the top centre will remain the main attraction.

Moreover, tipster Ice Universe has claimed that Apple unlikely to drop the ‘notch’ until 2020 and he expects the company to adopt the hole in display style in 2020.
