A week after the Zenfone 5 received an Android Pie update, ASUS rolled out the Android 9 Pie update to the Zenfone 5Z in Taiwan. Asus ZenFone 5Z shipped with Android 8.0 Nougat out of the box with ZenUI 5.0 on top. The ZenFone 5Z is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, paired with 8GB of RAM.
The update size is 1 GB, and the software version of the phone is updated to 90.10.138.157. Sadly, this update still has November security patches. In addition to bringing the brand new Android 9 Pie, the update includes Adaptive battery and new navigation gestures. Along with these, Asus included its own features such as a new dark theme and a gesture-based navigation system.
In a post made on official ZenTalk forums, the Android 9.0 Pie update will be rolling out as a firmware-over-the-air (FOTA) update package. If you’re a Zenfone 5Z user then you can check for the updates by heading over to Settings>About>System Update.
Asus India said that ZenFone 5Z users in India should expect the Pie update by January 2019. However, you can download the OTA zip and flash it manually only if you are running version 80.30.96.221 on ZS620KL model.
