After rumors and leaks, Taiwanese brand Asus has announced that it will introduce its gaming smartphone ROG Phone 5 at an event on March 10. The launch date has been confirmed by the brand through a dedicated landing page with a timer going.
The launch event is scheduled to take place on March 10 at 7 pm (local time) in Taipei (4:30 pm IST). Asus has skipped the number ‘4’ and the upcoming ROG Phone 5 will be the successor of ROG Phone 3 that was announced in July in 2020.
Recently, the phone was tested on the Geekbench with the model number I005DA, which revealed the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset, Android 11 operating system, and 16GB of RAM. According to the earlier TENAA certification, it revealed that the phone will feature a dot matrix on the back for Aura Lighting with the ROG logo.
Asus ROG Phone 5 Specifications (Expected)
The ROG Phone 5 smartphone will be powered by 1.80 GHz Snapdragon 888 SoC coupled with at least 8GB RAM. It will feature a 6.78 inches full-HD+ (1080×2400 pixels) OLED screen with an aspect ratio of 20:9 and a 144Hz refresh rate.
Earlier rumors revealed that the ROG Phone 5 will also embrace the triple rear camera setup comprising a 64-megapixel primary sensor, a 16-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and an 8-megapixel telephoto camera. The phone is said to feature a 32-megapixel selfie camera.
It is rumored to feature a 6000mAh battery (2x 3000mAh batteries), and the 3C certification already revealed 65W fast wired charging. The phone will have an in-display fingerprint sensor. As far as the software goes, the handset will run Android 11 OS out-of-the-box.
