Apple to Launch Dual-SIM Version of iPhone Model Only in China

Apple is expected to launch three new models in September with 6.5-inch and 5.8-inch OLED screen and 6.1-inch LCD screen variants. But according to some rumors, Apple is planning to introduce dual-SIM dual standby functionality in some of the upcoming models, which would allow two SIM cards to be used at once, but it appears this functionality could perhaps be limited to China only.

A report from Taiwanese site Economic Daily News, the dual-SIM dual standby feature on upcoming iPhone models will available in a version of the 6.1-inch low-cost LCD iPhone that’s “a unique model for China.” Moreover, popular analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has already stated that Apple will launch a dual-SIM iPhone this year. But Ming-Chi Kuo did not claim that it would be limited to China.

To support these rumors, 9to5Mac spotted “second SIM status” and “second SIM tray status” in iOS 12 5 developer beta code.

Economic Daily News reports that Apple is setting up to introduce a double SIM iPhone in China only since individuals in China to have more than one cell phone number. Upwards of three to four billion consumers use double SIM cards, and numerous phones in China effectively offer support for more than one SIM card. To stay focused in the Chinese market and draw customers from Android phones, Apple additionally needs to support the dual-sim standby feature.

Along with the iPhone X Plus, Apple is also planning to release Apple Watch series 4 in September. Some rumors also claim that a new MacBook Air and AirPods 2 could be unveiled at the event as well. Along with the dual-sim information, some report suggested that the iPhone model with two new OLED variants are expected to have a bezel-less display, a glass back design, and FaceID. The LCD variant is expected sport a metal back design and according to Ming-Chi Kuo, 6.5-inch OLED iPhone will be priced at $900-$1,000, 5.8-inch OLED iPhone will have a price tag of $800-$900, while 6.1-inch LCD variant will be priced at $600-$700.
