Xiaomi Mi 9 has long been in news, and today some new details about the smartphone have surfaced online. Two new prototypes have surfaced of Mi 9 have appeared online, giving us a look at the designs the could be experimenting with. Of course, it should be pointed out that these are all prototypes so the final version of the Mi 9 may look very different from the what we see in the pictures.
A new leak gives us a hint about the placement of the camera and a fingerprint sensor on the Mi 9. The Mi 9 prototype shows a vertically stacked dual rear camera setup and a capacitive fingerprint sensor mounted in the center. While the camera module looks like a triple camera unit, it consists of only two cameras and an LED flash.
Another leak on Weibo, showed a prototype Mi 9 in the hands of Xiaomi’s Product Director, Wang Teng. The post shows the alleged Mi 9. This leak shows that the Mi 9 will have a glass rear panel just like previous Xiaomi flagship phones. However, there are some differences in this leak and the previous leaks of the Mi 9.
It seems the Mi 9 will feature a triple camera set up on the rear with an LED flash. In this leak, the smartphone is missing the rear-mounted fingerprint sensor indicating the possibility of implementing an in-display fingerprint scanner or rely on a 3D facial recognition system. Besides this, the volume and power buttons are placed as expected.
The company might launch the Mi 9 in April of this year and later in the year to other markets. The device is expected to be powered by Snapdragon 855 chipset under the hood and it could support 5G. We can expect trending waterdrop notched display on Mi 9 or the company could opt a slider display similar to the Mi Mix 3.
